Welcome to LitmusBlog

Welcome to LitmusBlog, LitmusBox's place for sharing expertise and interacting with our global development community.

The idea of the LitmusBlog has been percolating for a long time. We've been deep in the trenches of web development as LitmusBox since 2008, and as freelancers since way back when Netscape Navigator provided the most state-of-the-art browsing experience. Back then, we wanted to share what we'd learned, as a way of giving back to a free-sharing online community from which we had benefitted countless times.

However, being deep in the trenches makes it hard to step back and write about it. We can't afford to spend days writing blog posts when clients are waiting for estimates, wireframes are due, sprints are roaring forward at mach 2. And so the blog idea was tabled.

Then we noticed something. The kind of expertise that would be valuable as a blog comes out of our mouths on conference calls and pours from our emails every single day. We already are sharing our expertise. We just need to collect it, filter out some of the swear words, and stick it in a blog. That's what this is.

The LitmusBlog shows our team as the multidisciplinary crew of experts that attracts our clients. Here, we'll be sharing heavy duty tech how-to's — such as today's posts, Real Time Communication with Socket.io and JavaScript Art: Session 1 - Contemporary — as well as more business-ey posts about SEO, start-ups and web consulting.

We hope you enjoy our blog. If you do (or even if you don't), we hope you'll stay and join the conversation. This space is all about learning and sharing ideas.
